Virginia is for Newlywed Lovers

I know it's been a while but I want to tell you about our big wedding party here in Virginia!

Since so many of our East coast family members and friends couldn't attend the wedding in Salt Lake, we decided to have a ring ceremony and reception in Richmond.

Through a sweet hook-up, we were able to use the Meadowbrook Country Club. Larry Willis, who serves in the bishopric of our LDS church ward, conducted an intimate ring ceremony for close family and friends in the gardens.

Larry talked about why we got married in the temple.  Our dad's said a few words and Erica and I each expressed our feelings for each other.  Then we exchanged rings!

It was so beautiful outside in the gardens...and even the birds were chirping their approval!

After the ceremony, we went inside for dinner (prime rib and chicken).  Erica had a great idea to display wedding photos of our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. While none of them could be at the reception physically, we know they were there in spirit.

Following dinner, Erica and I had to sneak away to practice our dance because her dress made things a little complicated!

We altered our moves...went upstairs...and then danced together for the first time as a couple!  Here's a clip:

The rest of the night was spent greeting our friends, eating, cutting the cake, throwing the garter belt, tossing the bouquet, and having an amazing time!

Our friends took over 400 pictures.  Here's some favorites.
Erica made these cake toppers! It's me and her!
Cutting the cake.
We had a delicious buttercream and lemon cake from Ukrop's kitchen.
Tossing the bouquet! My co-worker Katelyn was the lucky girl who caught it.
Where's that thing at?
Phil is ready to catch it!
Notice how there's very few men on the floor...and they are fighting over
who should pick it up.  In the end Daniel won!
Thanks to everyone who came!  We had an amazing time.  We want to have an anniversary party next year so start making plans to be there!

  3. Wow - I would have bet earlier that Nate would be least likely to dance in front of an audience. I guess that honor now goes to Peter. I love your blog and your openness about what matters to you. We love you.
